On our way home from Acadia, we visited the Maine Folklife Center (MFC) to continue our search for Campfire Stories. We found the entire archive of Northeast Folklore Magazine, and a huge digital archive of interviews and audio recordings of the collected folklore of Maine.
The Folklife Center was founded by Edward “Sandy” Ives in 1992. Sandy was a folklorist and folk singer, collecting and signing local songs and tales from Maine & Canada. Today, the work of collecting and preserving these oral and folk traditions continues at MFC with digitization, ongoing research, and the annual American Folk Festival.
